Lifelong Connection to Y Becomes a Legacy

As a little girl, Sue Padgett went to the Y in Elkin, where she grew up. “The Y was where the whole community came together,” she recalls. Sue participated in all the programs available to her at the Y. “I swam, was in Leaders Club, took gymnastics and even synchronized swimming,” she says. She later worked for the Y as a swim instructor and lifeguard.

For Future Generations: Heritage Club Member Patti Davis

Patti Davis walks the halls of the William G. White, Jr. Family YMCA with the energetic enthusiasm you’d expect from a “self-proclaimed exercise junkie.” Davis is an aerobics instructor with a passion that reaches deeper than the physical benefits of exercise. She is often seen slowing her lively pace to stop and speak with seniors, who she recognizes may need a friendly conversation.
