Winter Sports Registration Is Now Open!

From the first squeak of sneakers on the hardwood to the excitement of a buzzer-beating finish, the YMCA is where the next generation of players learn, grow, compete and belong.

At the Y, every pass, shot and point builds skills that last long after the final whistle. Through the guidance of our dedicated staff and VOLUNTEER COACHES, athletes learn what true sportsmanship and teamwork look like- on and off the court or field.

Register by October 31 for best price! Financial scholarships are available.

YMCA Winter Basketball League

The excitement of the upcoming NBA and NCAA basketball season is inspiring the next generation of basketball players and with the best players in the world getting ready to take the court, the excitement is closer to home than ever before! This winter, young athletes can bring that energy from the big stage to their own YMCA.

Leagues will be held at the Jerry Long Family YMCA, Kernersville Family YMCA, Statesville Family YMCA, Stokes Family YMCA and William G. White, Jr. Family YMCA.

YMCA Winter Indoor Soccer League

The excitement of the world's biggest soccer tournament is inspiring the next generation of players and with the World Cup played right here in the United States this past summer, the excitement is closer to home than ever before! This winter, young athletes can bring that World Cup energy from our own backyard to the YMCA.

For ages 3-12 at the Jerry Long Family YMCA and for ages 6-11 at the Fulton Family YMCA, exciting fast-paced Winter Indoor Soccer recreation league for kids played on SUNDAYS ONLY! Four practices and seven total games are scheduled.  Futsal rules will be used for the winter indoor season.

For more traditional league play with a weeknight practice a Saturday game, we have an Indoor Soccer league at the Davie Family YMCA and Yadkin Family YMCA for ages 3-8.

YMCA Winter Volleyball Academy

For ages 6-14, Volleyball Academy is a clinic-style program that will help your child build upon their volleyball skills during their off-season. Sessions are on Sundays at the Kernersville Family YMCA.

Family-Friendly Registration Process

(All sports except basketball ages 9+)

Our registration process will allow you to choose the practice day and time that is most convenient for your family. The practice day and time that you choose at registration will determine your team. Early registration is strongly encouraged as each team has a set number of participants and once a practice day and time has reached its player capacity that team will be full.

Skills Evaluations & Coaches Draft (Basketball ages 9+)

For the sports and divisions listed above, the Y will host pre-season evaluations and formal coaches' drafts. All participants must attend one evaluation as teams will be drafted by coaches using the results from these evaluations.

Players must be available to practice on all practice nights. No requests will be considered.  Team Assignment emails will be sent no later than Thursday, November 12. For more information, click below.

Process & Dates

Registrations received after the coaches’ draft may take additional time for a team assignment. To keep teams as balanced as possible, please allow up to one week for your team assignment while we wait for additional players to register. For players that register after the coaches’ draft has occurred:

  • Practice night, coach, or team requests will not be considered.
  • Families may not request a specific practice night or select a night they are unable to practice.
  • Once enough players have registered to ensure teams remain balanced, your team assignment will be provided. We will do our best to provide assignments within one week of registration.
  • Players may be asked to participate in an individual skill assessment to help determine the appropriate team assignment.
  • Registration fees will not be prorated for time missed due to a delayed team assignment.
  • No refunds will be issued once a team assignment has been made.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to create a fair and balanced experience for all players.

PLAYERSPACE

This is an online sports platform that is utilized for simplifying communication among coaches, players and YMCA sports staff. PLAYERSPACE is where you will find your roster, practice and game schedules, as well as contact information for those on your team. A PLAYERSPACE account will be created for the Primary Person on your DAXKO account after registration is complete (unless you have one prior with the same primary email on file). You will be emailed your account log-in credentials two weeks prior to the season and emailed your team assignment the Thursday prior to the season start date. (Be sure to check your spam folder as emails often go to spam initially.) PLAYERSPACE will be used for basketball, soccer, flag football, t-ball/baseball and volleyball.
