The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina Association aspires to be an outstanding recreational youth sports organization by providing fun, memorable seasons to our athletes, coaches, and parents. Each athlete should feel like an important part of the team, regardless of performance, and learn the skills, tactics, and strategies of the game to improve as a player.
Spring Sports Season Timeline
The global pandemic that is COVID-19 has been an unprecedented test on our nation, state, and community. We are all dealing with abrupt changes and uncertainty that has no doubt been a challenge to us all. It has never been more critical to stay together as we follow the guidelines from officials to keep each other and our community healthy.
It was our hope to be able to begin spring sports next week. But based on Gov. Roy Cooper’s latest executive order, we are unable to do so. As a result, we had to make the tough decision to cancel our spring sports season.
We miss you all dearly, and we were really looking forward to seeing everyone’s smiling faces this month! We hope you stay engaged with us this month by participating in our daily drills on our Instagram page. It is our intention at this time to offer special clinics, tournaments, and events in May as well as our normal summer sports programs. Stay tuned for more information and registration coming later this month.
Because we are not able to offer spring sports, everyone will be issued a system credit to your account that can be used at a later date for any program and/or membership. You do not need to take any action.
We ask during this time if you are able to lend a helping hand to the community, please consider converting your registration fee to a donation. This tax-deductible donation will help support our efforts and ensures our Y remains strong and poised to meet the critical needs in our community during this unprecedented time. Family-Friendly Registration Process
Our registration process will allow you to choose the practice day and time that is most convenient for your family. The practice day and time that you choose at registration will determine your team (except for volleyball and divisions ages 11+ in basketball). Early registration is strongly encouraged as each team has a set number of participants and once a practice day and time has reached its player capacity that team will be full.
This is an online sports platform that is utilized for simplifying communication among coaches, players and YMCA sports staff. PLAYERSPACE is where you will find your roster, practice and game schedules, as well as contact information for those on your team. If you do not have a PLAYERSPACE account, you will receive an email asking you to set one up once the teams have been assigned. If you have an existing account, please log in after the date that teams have been assigned. PLAYERSPACE will be used for basketball, soccer, flag football, t-ball/baseball and volleyball.
Be a Coach!
As is the case with all recreational leagues, the Y program is built on dedicated volunteer coaches. If you are a great role model, have a fun-loving attitude, enjoy working with kids, and have good communication skills, you are qualified to become a head coach! The Y provides coach training and practice plans, along with help from staff members when needed. Coaching couldn’t get any easier! If you are interested, contact the Y staff listed below and tell them you want to make an impact this season! Coaches, please make sure to register your child as soon as possible to ensure they have a spot on the team, as we cannot hold spots on any team.

Spring Volleyball League
Adult Volleyball offers an exciting atmosphere that brings back the nostalgia of playing in your youthful days. This league is co-ed, bring your own team, 6v6 format. We strive to have 2 divisions: beginner/intermediate & advanced. For full list of rules, please click here.
If you aren’t affiliated with a team and would like to be placed onto a team, please come to an open gym. Connect with the Site Supervisor upon arrival to get assistance in finding a team.

Pick Up Basketball
Adult Pick-Up Basketball is all about competition, exercise, relationship building, staying fit, and developing a healthy lifestyle while enjoying a great time! All skill levels are welcome.
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 5:00-7:00am on Court 3 & 4 (ages 18 & over)
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 6:00-8:30pm on Court 1 (ages 35 & over)

Come out and join a game that combines tennis, racquetball, ping pong and squash. Pickleball is a great way to combine fun and fitness.
