YADKINVILLE, NC — After breaking ground just over a year ago, the Yadkin Family YMCA officially cut the ribbon for the new wellness center and renovated facility that has now all been completed.

The ceremony featured remarks from Executive Director Scott Spillman, Yadkinville Mayor Eddie Norman, YMCA of Northwest North Carolina Board Vice Chair Skip Brown, Yadkin Family YMCA board members Oz Prim and Todd Martin, capital campaign chair Jerry Carlton, and YMCA of Northwest North Carolina interim CEO Donna Rodgers, among others.

"The Yadkin Family YMCA has been part of my YMCA journey for nearly 25 years, from attending my first all-staff meeting here in 2001 to now having the privilege of serving as Executive Director," said Scott Spillman, Executive Director of the Yadkin Family YMCA. "As we celebrate the branch's 25th anniversary, this expansion is a powerful reminder of how much this YMCA means to the community. While the facility has grown and evolved over the years, what has remained constant is the people—our members, volunteers, donors, staff, and community partners—who make this such a special place. I'm honored to be part of this next chapter and excited to see the impact these new spaces will have for generations to come."

The renovations and expansions include:

  • One renovated and one brand new group exercise studio spaces for additional class offerings
  • Expanded and renovated child care facilities with expanded hours
  • New turf training area
  • Indoor/Outdoor wellness area
  • Multipurpose room for branch and community use

"The Yadkin Family YMCA has been changing lives for nearly 25 years, and this expansion ensures we can continue meeting the needs of a growing community for years to come," said Donna Rodgers, interim CEO of the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina. "The true value of this project isn't found in the new spaces themselves, but in the opportunities they create for children, families, and individuals to improve their health, build relationships, and strengthen their connection to the community."

For 25 years, the Yadkin Family YMCA has strengthened the community. Through the years, the Y has evolved and grown to meet community needs. At the Y, parents find a safe, nurturing environment for their children to stay active, be engaged and learn positive values. Families can come together to have fun and spend quality time with each other. Children and teens play, develop self-confidence and know they are accepted. Adults connect with friends, pursue interests and learn how to live healthier. People from all backgrounds and all walks of life come together to volunteer and help our community become stronger.
