YADKINVILLE, NC (March 5, 2025) — The Yadkin Family YMCA is pleased to announce the official groundbreaking date for the renovation and expansion of its current facility. The Groundbreaking Ceremony will take place March 10, 2025, at the Yadkin Family YMCA, located at 6540 Service Rd in Yadkinville, North Carolina. 

The ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. and all media are encouraged to arrive at 9:30. The ceremony will feature remarks from Holly Joyner, Jerry Carlton, Bob Todd, Eddie Norman and YMCA of Northwest North Carolina CEO Darryl Head.

Jerry Carlton, the Capital Campaign Chair and driving force behind this capital project, is excited to enhance the Y’s transformative mission in the community. “This is a much-needed expansion and remodel of our existing YMCA. I know our members will enjoy the new space to be active and stay healthy; as well as providing space to meet and participate in programs the Y provides,” said Carlton.

Some of the renovations will include:

  • Renovated and expanded Kids Zone – from 400 square feet to approximately 1,700 square feet. 
  • Renovation of existing space for a multipurpose room to be used for ESOL classes, middle and high school after school activities, LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program gatherings.
  • Additions of two new Group Exercise Studios.
  • Expand Wellness Floor space from 3,600 square feet to 5,225 square feet.

Yadkinville community members are encouraged to join the YMCA on Monday in celebrating the the impact it has had and will continue to have on the local communities with this expansion and renovation.

For over 20 years, the Yadkin Family YMCA has strengthened community. Through the years, the Y has evolved and grown to meet community needs. At the Y, parents find a safe, nurturing environment for their children to stay active, be engaged and learn positive values. Families can come together to have fun and spend quality time with each other. Children and teens play, develop self-confidence and know they are accepted. Adults connect with friends, pursue interests and learn how to live healthier. People from all backgrounds and all walks of life come together to volunteer and help our community become stronger.
