On April 9, the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina introduced Julia Clinard-Townsend and her father Woody Clinard as the newest members of the Red Triangle Society.

February is American Heart Month, and with recently published research indicating blood pressure control has worsened in both men and woman since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important to use this month to get a blood pressure screening and focus on becoming heart healthy. Below are tips for everyone to become heart healthy this February.

WINSTON-SALEM — For the fifth-consecutive academic year, the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina, in partnership with local school districts in Alexander, Davie, Forsyth, Iredell, Stokes, Wilkes and Yadkin counties, is offering a teen membership referral initiative to give youth a positive space to thrive at no cost to the teenager or their family.

The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina will host its 29th annual Golf To Give Back tournament Oct. 16 at Tanglewood Park Golf Club.As one of the primary fundraisers for the nonprofit organization, participation and support in the tournament will help continue to provide opportunities for children, families, and individuals to grow, learn, and thrive in the community.

April is Volunteer Month and we would be remiss not to recognize all the amazing things our volunteers do for us, this month and always. As a nonprofit organization, the YMCA thrives off volunteer participation and engagement; they are the heart of our organization.

KING, N.C. - Beginning on May 19, Chris Chunn will become the new Executive Director of the Stokes Family YMCA. A native of King and West Stokes High School alum, Chunn's Y journey began 15 years ago at the Stokes Family YMCA. Over the years, he has served in a variety of leadership roles. Most recently, he has led the Fulton Family YMCA along with the Youth Development Branch. His passion for the YMCA and its Mission continues to drive his commitment to strengthening the communities in which the Y serves.
