We are pleased to offer a distinctive, whole-student learning approach for K-12 students impacted by COVID-19. The E-Learning Academy will take place in multiple area YMCA facilities and has been designed to support the online education and instruction your student will receive from school this fall.
Many people do not realize that, as a whole, the YMCA is the largest provider of before and after school care in the United States. We believe that the quality of child care cannot be undervalued and thus, every YMCA program is grounded in our character development traits of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.
The YMCA E-Learning Academy features:
- Safe, WiFi-connected environment for students to complete school-assigned online instruction
- On-site education support and tutoring
- Peer connection and social-emotional development including CircleUp check-ins
- Y Selectives, including fitness and athletic training, arts and hobbies, leadership development, and more
In addition to the E-Learning Academy, we have also adapted our After School Academy to meet the changing needs of our schools, students, and families.

Before and After School Academy:
Activities in our curriculum include health & wellness, arts & humanities, science & technology and service learning projects. Each of the YMCA Before and After School Academy programs are designed with age-appropriate activities created to help your child grow and develop physically, mentally and spiritually.
The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina partners with local school systems to offer both before and after school care onsite in several schools throughout our five-county service area.

How To Register
Below you’ll find commonly asked questions. Ready to register?
Other questions? Please feel free to call your local branch at any time.
When is the program start date and end date?
The program starts the first day of school and ends the last day that students report to school (in June).
I am a Y member or past program participant. Why can’t the system locate my account?
The Y may have outdated information or a misspelled name in our system. Please call your local Y (locations here) and we can help you set up your account over the phone.
My child is a Y member of another Y outside of the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina. Can my child get Member prices?
If your child is a member of another Y, he/she qualifies for Member prices. If only the parent is a member, the child will not receive member prices. You will need to come into the branch to register in person, to receive the Member discount.
I am not a member, can I still sign my child up for Before and After School Academy?
Yes, you can still sign up without having a Y membership. As a Y member you get a lower rate on many of our programs. Click here to find out more about becoming a member.
Should I register myself or my child for the program?
While you, the adult primary account holder, will be listed as an option, please be sure to select your child’s name and register their name for the program.
Can I apply my Financial Assistance or system credit to my payment?
The system does not currently process any financial assistance price reductions, discounts, or account credits through online registration. You must visit the Y to register for this program and receive your discount at that time. Once you have registered, you can make payments online. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Also, please note, if you register after September 1, you will have to pay both the Registration fee and the first month at that time.
If you have any other questions about the registration process, please call your local Y branch. You are also welcome to stop by the Y to register for Before and After School Academy at any time.
Thanks for your interest in the YMCA Before and After School Academy!
