Impact of the Kernersville Family YMCA

We served 567 participants in our Before and After School programs and distributed $22,668 in financial scholarships.

We provided new school supplies and clothing to 174 students in the Kernersville community - the largest number in a single event since the program began in 1999. 211 volunteers brought energy, encouragement, and care to make the day unforgettable and 175 backpacks distributed, filled with an estimated 23,000 school supply items. Over $30,000 was invested in this year’s event to make it all possible.
 

We awarded $82,075 in financial scholarships and currently have 8,912 members at the Kernersville Family YMCA.

We served 2,063 youth in our Overnight Camp and Day Camp programs this past summer at YMCA Camp Hanes! We provided $278,300 in financial assistance. We also supported 16 teens from the Kernersville community and $17,600 in financial dollars.

We served approximately unique 259 kids for a total of 1,115 sessions in our Summer Day Camp (K-5 and Teens) and distributed $8,543 in financial assistance. 

191 participants were served in our Evidence-based Health Intervention programs across the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina, which is $47,500 in Annual Impact Fund dollars for programs like LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA (a free 12-week program for cancer survivors and their families). So far in 2026, we provided support to 9 adult cancer survivors from the Kernersville community and $7,173 in financial dollars.

We served 69 teens from the Kernersville community in our Teen Referral Membership program. Over 948 teens across our Association are enrolled in this program for at-risk teens.

We served 1,060 kids in our swim lessons program and provided $880 in financial assistance.

We served 81 participants in our Safety Around Water drowning prevention - a program that provides swim instruction and water safety to children from under-served communities at no cost.

We served 580 youth and adults in our sports programs and awarded $579 in financial assistance.
