REMEMBER YOUR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL?
You likely had a brand-new backpack, freshly sharpened pencils, clean shoes, and outfits you picked out yourself. That sense of excitement and confidence can set the tone for the entire school year.
For many families in our community, however, the start of the school year brings stress and uncertainty—not celebration.
That’s where the YMCA Bright Beginnings program makes a difference.
Each year, we support 150 students from the Kernersville area, providing essential clothing, new shoes, and school supplies they may not otherwise receive. But we can’t do it without YOU—and amazing community partners like Brightspeed.
3 WAYS YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
1. Volunteer as a Shopping Buddy
Join us on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 7:00am to 12:45pm to help a child select back-to-school clothes. It’s a morning of smiles and memories that last a lifetime. Click here to sign up to volunteer!
2. Donate New School Supplies
Drop off new school supplies at the Kernersville Family YMCA from June 17 to August 1. Every donation helps a child feel confident and prepared.
3. Support a Child for $180
A gift of $180 outfits one child from head to toe, giving them the tools, they need to succeed. Our goal is to raise $27,000 to support 150 local students. Students are referred to the program by our local partner elementary schools. Click here to donate online!
