YMCA of Northwest North Carolina prepares to open the Y facility to membership on January 1, 2024

Winston-Salem, NC (Dec. 19, 2023) – The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina (NWNC) is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated reopening of the Fulton Family YMCA to membership on January 1, 2024. The Fulton Y will be adding membership hours from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (we will open at 8:00am on January 1 because of New Year's Day) and will measure facility usage and membership numbers to determine if expanded hours are warranted. Since late 2020, the Fulton Family YMCA has played a vital role as a hub for essential youth development programs, including after-school initiatives, summer camps, youth sports, and housing the TYDE swim team.

Thanks to community support and increased partnership opportunities including the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools system’s alternative out-of-school suspension program, Restore, Reset, Restart (R3), the branch will be adding morning membership hours.

Taking the helm as the Executive Director of the Fulton Family YMCA is Chris Chunn. With a decade-long tenure at the YMCA of NWNC’s Stokes Family YMCA and most recently serving as the Executive Director of Education and Swim for the association, Chunn brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the role. He has been instrumental in overseeing the Youth Development and Swim operations, ensuring a seamless transition for the Fulton Family YMCA.

"We are excited to offer membership hours at the Fulton Family YMCA as it continues to house our impactful youth programs,” said Darryl Head President and CEO of the YMCA of NWNC. "We invite the community to share in our excitement and to embrace this opportunity as we move into the new year."

The YMCA of NWNC remains dedicated to empowering individuals and enhancing community well-being through programs that promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
