Our Mission:  “Helping all people reach their God-given potential in spirit, mind and body.”

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vision Statement:

The Y is a place where common ground thrives and people of all walks of life can belong. We approach diversity and inclusion through the Christian principles of love, compassion, kindness, and respect. The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina will promote and exemplify togetherness. We value, encourage, and nurture the contributions that each person makes to our increasingly diverse association and the community we serve.

The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina infuses its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work through:

Boys and Young Men of Color

In accordance with our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vision Statement, the YMCA of NWNC will improve the well-being of Boys and Young Men of Color through intentional Youth Development programming with a focus on inspiring and transforming lives and setting the pathway for successful adulthood within the communities we serve.

Training and Learning

The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion serves as a compass as we work alongside communities to drive social progress and positive change for all.

Staff and volunteers are at the heart of this organization, and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work. No matter how you help, you are creating a feeling of connection and enriching the lives of people in our communities. We want to thank you for your interest in these trainings to better your Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion journey.

Employee Resource Groups

We believe our employees and volunteers are our most valuable assets in our effort to strengthen the foundations of communities. To emphasize our commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment, we invite all employees and volunteers to participate.

These employee-led groups (Employee Resource Groups) provide a space for people to network, mentor one another, share their knowledge and experiences, participate in personal and professional development, enhance their leadership skills, inform strategic decisions, and provide consultation when needed – all while building meaningful connections across our YMCA and across the national movement.
