Many people do not realize that, as a whole, the YMCA is the largest provider of child care in the United States. We believe that the quality of child care cannot be undervalued and thus every YMCA program is grounded in our character development traits of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.
Activities in our curriculum include health and wellness, arts and humanities, science and technology and service learning projects. Each of the YMCA Child Care programs are designed with age appropriate activities created to help your child grow and develop physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Our Preschool Enrichment Academy provides a safe and loving environment for 18 months through pre-kindergarten age children. We want to encourage and develop each child’s academic, social, and physical development growth. Our primary goal for your child will be to enjoy a curriculum-based program that also includes a fitness component, arts and crafts, creative play, music and story time, and a snack.
9am- 12pm Monday- Friday
Program runs during the school year and will operate on the same schedule as Stokes County Schools.
Unfortunately due to the coronavirus, Preschool Enrichment Academy will not run in 2020-2021, see you in the fall of 2021.

Wise Start is a Smart Start grant funded program designed for the preschool aged population. Wise Start offers physical and nutritional activities to child care centers throughout Stokes Co. These activities encourage preschool children and subsequently their families to adopt healthier lifestyle options.
Wise Start is not just focusing on the health benefits it has to offer, but a big part of this program focuses on teacher / child interaction. We want to see teachers more engaged with the children. By doing so, this gives our preschoolers a wonderful learning environment, with warm, inviting, caring teachers. We want to see all childcare facilities in Stokes Co strive to be a 4 star center or higher. Wise Start encourages teachers and caregivers to give the highest quality of childcare possible.
These children are our future and deserve the best. Let’s work together to help them receive a “Wise Start” in life.
