Many people do not realize that, as a whole, the YMCA is the largest provider of child care in the United States. We believe that the quality of child care cannot be undervalued and thus every YMCA program is grounded in our character development traits of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.
Activities in our curriculum include health and wellness, arts and humanities, science and technology and service learning projects. Each of the YMCA Child Care programs are designed with age appropriate activities created to help your child grow and develop physically, mentally, and spiritually.
The Kernersville Family YMCA child watch area (nursery/youth fit room) is available for free to household and adult with dependent type memberships. Potential members are not able to use the child watch area.

Our snow day policy is for children enrolled in schools in Forsyth County. If school is closed due to snow, the YMCA will provide service from 7:00am-6:00pm (we will do our best to open at 7am and stay open as long as possible). There is no additional fee for those children already enrolled in the YMCA After School Childcare Program.
For those children not involved in our After School program, we do have an option for child care on snow days. The price is $27 for members and $43 for potential members. This will allow you to work out but also allows you to leave the Kernersville Family YMCA as long as your children are signed up for the snow day childcare program.

Middle School After School Program
The Kernersville Family YMCA’s Middle School After School Program is designed to help youth reach their God-given potential in spirit, mind and body. Youth in the program develop the skills they need to be a contributing member of the Winston-Salem community. Students participate in activities that reinforce core values such as caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith and give them the chance to make better decisions later in life. Youth are surrounded daily by caring role models who help them grow and learn. Additionally, the program adapts to the changing needs of the youth served and focuses on three elements: 1) homework assistance 2) physical fitness and 3) enrichment activities.
