This program provides opportunities for parent/child teams to socialize with each other. The instructor begins to prepare the children to work directly with an instructor on their own. Level A-Water Discovery: Introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatics environment. Level B-Water Exploration: Focuses on exploring body positions, blowing bubbles, and fundamental safety and aquatics skills. One adult must accompany each child. Tight fitting plastic pants or swim diapers are required in the pool.

This class introduces children to their first experience swimming without a parent. The YMCA preschool swim program includes the basics of water safety and swimming skills. Our curriculum offers your swimmer a sense of achievement from the start through our stages. Stage 1-Water Acclimation: No skills required. Increase comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance. Stage 2-Water Movement: Encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills performed independently. Stage 3-Water Stamina: Develops intermediate self-recuse skills performed at longer distances than in previous skills.
