The Stokes Family YMCA is constantly growing and expanding the youth and adult sports program. The program hosts a variety of sports for all ages. All youth leagues focus on teaching youth teamwork, friendships, skills and respect for coaches, players and self. If you are interested in a particular sport please note the registration and season dates on our website. You can also call the front desk for further details.

Summer Basketball
Basketball League
Summer basketball will allow participants to be coached by dedicated volunteers that will help teach fundamental skills such as dribbling, shooting, and defense as well as focus on character development to build self-confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship and life-long healthy habits.
Ages
5-18 years old coed; divisions: 5-6, 7, 8, 9-10, 11-13, 14-18.
We will attempt to have girls’ leagues if registration allows
Age divisions are subject to change depending on registration numbers
When
Skills Evaluation Days: Saturday June 16 (ages 5-6 at 9am, 7-8 at 10am, 9-13 at 11am, 14-18 at 12pm) or Monday June 11, Tuesday June 12, and Thursday June 14 (ages 5-8 at 6pm, 9-13 at 7pm, 14-18 at 8pm)**
**Players must attend one of the above days in order to be placed on a team. All players must be evaluated.
Coaches training will be on Sunday July 10 from 1pm – 4pm at the William G. White, Jr. Family YMCA.
Coaches Meeting and Draft Day: Saturday June 16 at 3pm (please attend as many Skill Days as possible as well)
Practices begin the week of June 25. Games will begin July 14. Awards party is on August 25.

Children will need athletic shorts and shoes. We will provide jerseys. You will receive a phone call or email with details of team and practice night the week of June 18. If you do not hear from the YMCA or your coach by 6pm on June 22 please call the YMCA at (336) 985-9622 for this information. Practices will be one day during the week, Monday through Friday, and games will be played during the week and on Saturdays.
Basketball Academy
Looking to get the competitive edge for upcoming tryouts or just trying to improve your overall game? Look no further than Basketball Academy with LAABWORK professional trainer Kenneth Bates. Kenneth Bates has trained some of the best, including local NBA all-star Chris Paul. Kenneth and the other trainers are committed to making sure every player improves their game no matter what skill level they may be. Basketball Academy will be split in 3 classes (see below) to get the best out of each player.
Ages
5-7 year olds; 8-11 year olds (beginner & intermediate skill level); and 9-14 year olds (advanced skill level)
When
Thursday, May 10- FREE CLASS: try it out before you commit to the 6 week academy
5-7 years old at 6pm, 8-11 year olds beginner & intermediate at 7pm, 9-14 year olds advanced at 8pm.
Classes start Thursday, May 17 and ends June 21. Classes are on Thursdays.

Trainers teach basic and advanced fundamentals of shooting, passing, ball handling, rebounding, and individual defense/offense. Each class will stress individual improvement both mentally and physically, on and off the court. Each player may be videotaped in order to review the strengths and development areas. Summer Industrial Basketball League
Industrial League offers a fun and exciting atmosphere with friends, co-workers, or family. It is also a great way to meet new people and make new friends. Players must sign up as a team and designate a captain. Teams may be sponsored by a company or can just be a group of friends. Church groups are welcome as well. Each team is guaranteed 8 games. A tournament will be held at the end of the season (all teams may not qualify).

Games will start May 20. Games will be played on Sundays and possibly Mondays, if necessary.
Captains Meeting is Monday, May 14 at 7pm.

Regular Registration

Payment must be received in full prior to being allowed to play. Every player must print and sign their name as well as provide a phone number or e-mail prior to playing their first game. Teams are responsible for supplying their own jerseys. Jerseys must be the same color and have a number on the back. Teams without proper jerseys will not be allowed to play. Jersey color choice is first come, first serve. A Captains Meeting will be schedule during the week prior of the first game. All captains must attend or send a representative in their place.
Outdoor Kiddie Kickers
Now your 3-5 year olds can have the experience of outdoor soccer. Taught by YMCA staff in a clinic style format, players are taught the basics of soccer while learning to interact and become sociable with other players. Outdoor Kiddie Kickers will include 8 sessions with the first 6 being practices and the last 2 sessions being scrimmages

For your convenience, please use an Adult Team Registration Form if you are registering a team. Each team must have at least two females on the court at all times. The league will consist of a 6 v 6 format. If you have not received a call with team and game information by May 17, please call the Y and we will assist you in obtaining this information. A Captains Meeting will be schedule during the week prior of the first game. All captains must attend or send a representative in their place.
Indoor Soccer
Indoor soccer will be played in a league format with dedicated volunteers serving as coaches. Practices will one day during the week, between Monday and Friday, and games will mostly be played on Saturdays. An occasional weekday game may be scheduled.

If you do not receive a call by Wednesday, February 15th regarding your team information, please call the Y and we will assist you in obtaining this information. Shin guards should be worn during practices and games (not provided by YMCA). No cleats will be permitted in the gym.
