Schedules

Classes are open to all exercise levels, with alternative movements offered for different skill levels to maximize your personal workout. Our instructors are happy to give additional guidance to beginners, just introduce yourself before class! Minimum age is 14 years (with a parent) at the Statesville Family Y.

Group Ex Class Descriptions – Studio A

Hard Core/All About Abs – This class moves beyond basic floor work to incorporate exercises that improve core control, stability, strength & function. Standing moves, kettlebells, weights, stability balls, gliding disks are utilized in this class.

Core Conditioning – Strengthening and conditioning for abs and back.

Heart Smart Cardio/Strength ( Active Older Adults) – Group fitness class consisting of low impact aerobics, resistance training, stretching and relaxation.  Targets older adults (AOA) with heart issues or those trying to prevent them

Box ‘n Step-Learn the basics of Step Aerobics & kickboxing with this cardio class.  Combines floor and step moves and some kickboxing basics for a fun and effective workout.

Cardio Kickbox & Tone – This intense workout uses a variety of methods including Kick Boxing, floor work and step movements to keep your heart pumping fast. Come ready to break a sweat!

Interval Insanity – High intensity functional fitness class with interval drills in cardio & strength.  Starts in Studio A, may be held in Gym 3/outside.  A longer cool and stretch during the final 15 minutes of class.

Pilates – Strengthening class for the abdominal/torso (core) of the body.  Uses stability balls and other tools.

Sculpting/Power Fit – Strength and conditioning class utilizing various tools for resistance to tone all major muscle groups.  Designed to burn fat and improve physique through quick transitions and up-tempo work.

Silver Sneakers® MSROM – A class specifically designed for older adults.  Class starts with a warm-up and moves to exercises which improve range of motion and muscular strength. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

Kettle Bell Power – Strength & conditioning class using kettle bells to increase total overall fitness & challenge your body.

Chair/Yoga & Stretching – Uses chairs for poses and is designed for seniors, beginners, or those who choose not to get on the floor as in Hatha Yoga class.

Zumba® – A fusion of Latin and Hip Hop dance styles, aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms. Zumba Sentao®-Classic Zumba but with resistance movements like push-ups, squats, etc., using a chair.

Tabata Time- A high intensity 30 minute class designed to torch fat and improve cardio vascular fitness quickly and efficiently.  This non-stop workout will push you to new limits.

Hi-Lo Cardio- An up-tempo floor aerobics class with choreographed moves designed to increase cardio vascular efficiency and burn fat.  The one-hour class will be devided into a 30 minute aerobic segment followed by sculpting work and an abs work segment.

Group Ex Class Descriptions – Studio B

Cycle- Classes combine climbs, jumps, sprints, & high energy fun. Appropriate for any fitness level. Cool down and stretch at the end.

Cycle Cardio Combo- Combines cycling with drills & intervals for functional fitness using tools & body weight exercises or resistance moves off the cycles.  Followed by a longer stretch segment.

Yoga– Energize & relieve stress using Hatha Yoga postures that increase strength, flexibility, and mental focus.

Cross Train- A boot camp style class that incorporates strength, cardiovascular exercise, circuit training and endurance. Meets outside on the sports court except during the winter or inclement weather. Currently meeting in Gym 1.

Tae Kwon Do – Korean art of self-defense.  Improves strength, coordination, flexibility.  Must pay and register at front desk.
