Schedules

Classes are open to all exercise levels, with alternative movements offered for different skill levels to maximize your personal workout. Our instructors are happy to give additional guidance to beginners, just introduce yourself before class! Minimum age is 14 years (with a parent) at the Statesville Family Y.

Class Descriptions

Group Ex Class Descriptions – Studio A

Hard Core – This class moves beyond basic floor work to incorporate exercises that improve core control, stability, strength & function.

Core Conditioning – Strengthening and conditioning for abs and back.

Heart Smart Cardio/Strength ( Active Older Adults) – Group fitness class consisting of low impact aerobics, resistance training, stretching and relaxation. Targets older adults (AOA) with heart issues or those trying to prevent them.

Interval Cardio Blast – This intense workout uses a variety of methods including floor work and step movements to keep your heart pumping fast. Come ready to break a sweat!

Interval Insanity – High intensity functional fitness class with interval drills in cardio & strength designed to burn fat, increase endurance and improve physique. Starts in Studio A and may be held in Gym 3 or outside.

Pilates – Strengthening class for the abdominal/torso (core) of the body. Uses stability balls and other tools.

Power Pump – Resistance training with cardio drills using all our tools to burn fat and increase endurance. High intensity for maximum results.

Sculpting/Power Fit – Muscle strengthening & definition for entire body. Sculpt and define muscles and increase muscle endurance for entire body. Stretching at the end.

Silver Sneakers® MSROM (I) – A class specifically designed for older adults. This class starts with a warm-up and then moves to exercises to improve range of motion and muscular strength. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

Silver Sneakers® Cardio Circuit – is a non-impact standing class of alternating intervals designed to increase cardiovascular and muscular endurance.

Kettle Bell Power – Strength & conditioning class using kettle bells to increase total overall fitness & challenge your body.

Chair/Yoga & Stretching – Uses chairs for poses and is designed for seniors, beginners, or those who choose not to get on the floor as in Hatha Yoga class.

Zumba® – A fusion of Latin and Hip Hop dance styles. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.Zumba®/Hip Hop – A hot and sweaty dance party with the best Zumba®, hip-hop, reggae and popular music. This non-stop, 45 minute workout will melt away fat while boosting your dance skills like never before. Zumba® Toning adds in hand weights.

 

Group Ex Class Descriptions – Studio B

Cycle – Classes combine climbs, jumps, sprints, & high energy fun.  Cool down and stretch at the end.

Cycle Cardio Combo – Combines cycling with drills & intervals for functional fitness using tools & body weight exercises.

Cycle Lite – Basic cycle class targeting those new to spinning or seniors; lower intensity class.

Yoga & Yoga/Stretch – Energize & relieve stress using Hatha Yoga postures that increase strength, flexibility, and mental focus.

Cross Train – A boot camp style class that incorporates strength, cardiovascular exercise, circuit training and endurance. Meets outside on the sports court except during the winter or inclement weather. Currently meeting in Gym 1.

Tae Kwon Do – Korean art of self-defense.  Improves strength, coordination, flexibility.  Must pay and register at front desk.
