Swim Lesson Cancellation/Transfer Policy

  • There will be a $15 fee for any cancellation or transfer made within 1 week of swim lesson start date.
  • Swim lesson class/session changes can be made for a prorated refund or system credit before the second swim lesson begins. Please note, the $15 Cancellation/Transfer fee will still apply.
  • There will be no refunds or system credits once the second swim lesson begins. Exceptions may be considered for medical emergencies with a doctor’s note or the approval from the Aquatic Director.

Swim Lessons – Class Descriptions

Preschool Swim Lessons ages 3-5

Thirty minute classes. Swim diapers required for those who are not Potty-trained.

Pike: No skills required. Water readiness.
In class: will learn to blow bubbles put, face in water and proper kicking, paddling, and front and back floats with use of flotation devices and water safety.

Eel: Skills required: Put face in water, float on back and front w/ assistance, jump in swim 5 feet without flotation.
In class: Will learn to bob, kick on back, front and back float, swim without assistance 15 feet, water games and synchronized swimming skills and water safety.

Ray: Skills required: Swim without flotation device 15 feet (half way across pool), float on front and back, and jump into water without help.
In class: Will learn front crawl, elementary backstroke, treading water, synchronized swimming skills, and water safety and game activities.

Starfish: Skills required: Tread water, swim 25 feet using a modified crawl stroke and swim on back.
In class: Will learn survival float, kneeling and sitting dives, boating safety, to coordinate front crawl with rotary breathing and back crawl 25 yards.

Youth Swim Lessons ages 6-12

Classes are 45 minutes.

Polliwog: No skills required. In class: Will be introduced to the front crawl, front and back floats, putting face in water and personal safety skills.

Guppy: Skills required: Blow bubbles, put face in water, float on front and back, and swim 15 feet without assistance.
In class: Will learn to tread water, rudimentary 25 yards front and back crawl, rotary breathing, jump into deep end, and kneeling dive.

Minnow: Skill required: Rudimentary 25 yd. front and back crawl, rotary breathing, jump in deep end, and tread water for 30 seconds.
In class: Will build endurance swimming; reinforce fundamentals of front crawl, elementary backstroke, and diving. Introduction to breaststroke. Emphasize rescue and safety skills.

Fish/Flying Fish/Shark: Skills required: Swim two lengths of both front crawl and back stroke in good form. Can dive in water.
In class: Will learn to perform 50 yards of each: breaststroke, sidestroke, butterfly and open turns.

Birthday Parties

You choose the party. We’ll do the work.  All parties include decorations, a host, planned activities, all paper products, four pizzas and juice.  We ask that you book your party at least two weeks prior to the event.

Themed party decorations are available, for more details please ask the birthday party host.  If you would like to choose your own theme, you may bring the decorations prior to the party and our party staff will incorporate your theme with our decorations.  We do not provide cake, but time for cake and presents can be made available during the party.
If special arraignments or requests are needed please ask.

Splash and Fun Party
This two hour party includes 45 minutes pool time (15 minutes of change time) and 1 hour of activity in the party room.
Party times are 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Saturday or Sunday.
Pricing Includes 15 children, any additional children will be $5 per child.
Cost: $250 for members, $300 for potential members.

Sports or Gymnastics Party
This one and a half hour long party can include 30 minutes of basketball, jump ropes, hula hoops, soccer, gymnastics, parachute games, or dodge ball and an hour of fun in the party room.
Party times are 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm on Saturday or Sunday.
Pricing Includes 15 children, any additional children will be $5 per child.
Cost: $200 for members, $250 for potential members.

Private Swim Lessons

Private Swim Lessons

These lessons are for those individuals who are interested in one-on-one instruction. Sessions are 30 minutes long. Participants should bring a towel and wear a swimsuit. Goggles are strongly recommended for preschool, youth and adult classes. If your child is not fully potty-trained, it is required that they wear a “swimmy” diaper.

Lifeguard Certification Classes

During this class, participants will learn life-saving rescue skills for an Aquatic Environment. Once a participant takes the classes and passes the skills and written test, they will be certified as a YMCA Lifeguard for 2 years.

Lifeguard Course Prerequisites:

  • Current CPR
  • Current First Aid/AED
  • Current Oxygen Administration
  • Complete medical clearance (recommended)
  • Minimum age 16. If under the age of 18, participant must have parental consent to take this course.
  • Pass the following swimming test:
    • Perform a long, shallow front dive, then swim 500 yards, including 100 yards each of: sidestroke, front crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke kick with one arm forward, and inverted breaststroke kick with arms on the stomach.
    • Tread water for at least two minutes with legs only
    • Surface dive headfirst and feet first in 8 to 10 feet of water and swim underwater for 15 feet

Must be able to accomplish these tasks:

  • Remain alert, with no lapses in consciousness
  • Sit for extended periods, including in an elevated chair
  • Move to various locations, including in and around an elevated chair
  • Communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across distances
  • Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment
  • Observe all areas of the aquatic environment
  • Perform all needed rescues and survival skills
  • Think in the abstract, solve problems, make decisions, instruct, evaluate, supervise, and remember
  • Will possess the skills to operate alone as a lifeguard, with or without other lifeguard support.
