Pool Hours

Mon – Thur: 5:00am – 9:45pm
Friday: 5:00am – 8:45pm
Saturday: 7:00am – 6:45pm
Sunday: 12:00pm – 6:45pm

 


Birthday Parties

You choose the party. We’ll do the work.  All parties include decorations, a host, planned activities, all paper products, four pizzas and juice.  We ask that you book your party at least two weeks prior to the event.

Themed party decorations are available, for more details please ask the birthday party host.  If you would like to choose your own theme, you may bring the decorations prior to the party and our party staff will incorporate your theme with our decorations.  We do not provide cake, but time for cake and presents can be made available during the party.
If special arraignments or requests are needed please ask.

Splash and Fun Party
This two hour party includes 45 minutes pool time (15 minutes of change time) and 1 hour of activity in the party room.
Party times are 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Saturday or Sunday.
Pricing Includes 15 children, any additional children will be $5 per child.
Cost: $250 for members, $300 for potential members.

Sports or Gymnastics Party
This one and a half hour long party can include 30 minutes of basketball, jump ropes, hula hoops, soccer, gymnastics, parachute games, or dodge ball and an hour of fun in the party room.
Party times are 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm on Saturday or Sunday.
Pricing Includes 15 children, any additional children will be $5 per child.
Cost: $200 for members, $250 for potential members.

Swim Lessons

Swim Lessons

No matter your age or ability, you can learn to swim at the Jerry Long YMCA. Our YMCA trained and certified instructors cover swimming skills, stroke technique, water safety and boating safety in a friendly and encouraging environment. With small instructor to student ratio, our swim lessons provide personal instruction while providing a fun atmosphere. Classes are offered mornings and afternoons. The cost is $40 for members and $85 for potential members. Participants should bring a towel and wear a swimsuit. Goggles are strongly recommended for preschool, youth and adult classes. If your child is not fully potty-trained, it is required that they wear a “swimmy” diaper.

Parent/Child (ages 6 to 36 months)

Water adjustment and water acclimation, entering and exiting water with and with out parent’s help, Shipping and expelling water on cue, breath control and submerging, Learning balance and proper body positions, Buoyancy and back floating, Towing on front and back, Kicking and moving arms on command and moves towards a wanted object such as toy, and side of pool, Prone launch and prone gliding, Safety Tips and handouts for Parents.

Preschool (ages 3-5 years)

Beginner (Pike, Eel) Advanced (Ray, Starfish)

This class introduces children to their first experience swimming without a parent. It is a great way for kids to learn how to be independent and have fun in the pool. This class follows a skill progression designed for the maturity and coordination of preschool age children. This class offers an excellent socialization and play period as well as an opportunity to establish and develop good water safety skills.

Youth (ages 6-12 years)

Beginner (Polliwog, Guppy), Intermediate (Minnow, Fish), Advanced (Flying Fish, Shark)

This class consists of six skill levels, progressing from beginning water adjustment skills and basic swimming strokes to advanced rescue and water sports skills and competitive swimming strokes. Each level concentrates on stroke development, personal safety and rescue skills, student’s personal growth, and increasing student’s endurance and self-confidence in the water.

Adult (ages 13 and up)

Classes are small and informal which allows students to receive individual instruction and extra practice time. This class focuses on water adjustment, water safety, and proper stroke mechanics.

Private Swim Lessons

Private Swim Lessons

These lessons are for those individuals who are interested in one-on-one instruction. Sessions are 30 minutes long. Participants should bring a towel and wear a swimsuit. Goggles are strongly recommended for preschool, youth and adult classes. If your child is not fully potty-trained, it is required that they wear a “swimmy” diaper.

Lifeguard Certification Classes

During this class, participants will learn life-saving rescue skills for an Aquatic Environment. Once a participant takes the classes and passes the skills and written test, they will be certified as a YMCA Lifeguard for 2 years.

Lifeguard Course Prerequisites:

  • Current CPR
  • Current First Aid/AED
  • Current Oxygen Administration
  • Complete medical clearance (recommended)
  • Minimum age 16. If under the age of 18, participant must have parental consent to take this course.
  • Pass the following swimming test:
    • Perform a long, shallow front dive, then swim 500 yards, including 100 yards each of: sidestroke, front crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke kick with one arm forward, and inverted breaststroke kick with arms on the stomach.
    • Tread water for at least two minutes with legs only
    • Surface dive headfirst and feet first in 8 to 10 feet of water and swim underwater for 15 feet

Must be able to accomplish these tasks:

  • Remain alert, with no lapses in consciousness
  • Sit for extended periods, including in an elevated chair
  • Move to various locations, including in and around an elevated chair
  • Communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across distances
  • Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment
  • Observe all areas of the aquatic environment
  • Perform all needed rescues and survival skills
  • Think in the abstract, solve problems, make decisions, instruct, evaluate, supervise, and remember
  • Will possess the skills to operate alone as a lifeguard, with or without other lifeguard support.

In most of our branches they each CPR/First Aid & O2 Adm. as part of the course. They have to have these certifications in order to be certified as a YMCA Lifeguard.

TYDE Swim Team

TYDE Swim Team

Ages: open to all ages who meet the prerequisite

TYDE is a USA Swimming and YMCA swim team offering a full range of competitive programming for all ages. Originally started in 1973 as WSY, we have grown to become one of the largest and most respected swim teams in North Carolina and across the country. Whether you are looking for a gentle introduction to competitive swimming, a nationally ranked training program or anything in between, TYDE has what you’re looking for!
