We Honor The Game Here
The Jerry Long Family YMCA Sports program has formed a partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance to enhance the experience of our athletes and volunteer coaches. PCA’s goal to create Better Athletes, Better People, fits perfectly with the Y’s Mission and the Vision for our youth sports program.
PCA teaches everyone involved in sports to honor the game, learn from mistakes, and develop as an athlete and a person in a positive way. At the Jerry Long Y, coaches will complete the PCA ‘Double-Goal Coach’ course online to ensure that all of our athletes are getting the same great sports experience. For more information on PCA, check out their website at www.positivecoach.org.
As a parent, you need to stay in the know about your child’s sports experience. Below are a collection of resources that will allow you to do just that. Many of the questions that you might have will reside right here. But if there is something we missed, feel free to contact us at the information below.

Be a Coach!
As is the case with all recreational leagues, the Y program is built on dedicated volunteer coaches. If you are a great role model, have a fun-loving attitude, enjoy working with kids, and have good communication skills, you are qualified to become a head coach! The Y provides coach training and practice plans, along with help from staff members when needed. Coaching couldn’t get any easier! If you are interested, contact the Y staff listed above and tell them you want to make an impact this season!
