Summer Swim Lessons
No matter your age or ability, you can learn to swim at the Fulton Family YMCA. Our YMCA trained and certified instructors cover swimming skills, stroke technique, water safety and boating safety in a friendly and encouraging environment. With small instructor to student ratio, our swim lessons provide personal instruction while providing a fun atmosphere. We have one lifeguard on the pool deck at all times for every 25 people in the water.

Lifeguard Certification Classes
During this class, participants will learn life-saving rescue skills for an Aquatic Environment. Once a participant takes the classes and passes the skills and written test, they will be certified as a YMCA Lifeguard for 2 years.
Lifeguard Course Prerequisites:
- Current CPR
- Current First Aid/AED
- Current Oxygen Administration
- Complete medical clearance (recommended)
- Minimum age 16. If under the age of 18, participant must have parental consent to take this course.
- Pass the following swimming test:
- Perform a long, shallow front dive, then swim 500 yards, including 100 yards each of: sidestroke, front crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke kick with one arm forward, and inverted breaststroke kick with arms on the stomach.
- Tread water for at least two minutes with legs only
- Surface dive headfirst and feet first in 8 to 10 feet of water and swim underwater for 15 feet
Must be able to accomplish these tasks:
- Remain alert, with no lapses in consciousness
- Sit for extended periods, including in an elevated chair
- Move to various locations, including in and around an elevated chair
- Communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across distances
- Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment
- Observe all areas of the aquatic environment
- Perform all needed rescues and survival skills
- Think in the abstract, solve problems, make decisions, instruct, evaluate, supervise, and remember
- Will possess the skills to operate alone as a lifeguard, with or without other lifeguard support.
In most of our branches they each CPR/First Aid & O2 Adm. as part of the course. They have to have these certifications in order to be certified as a YMCA Lifeguard.

Parent/Child Lessons
Ages: 6-36 months
This program provides an early water experience for children from six months to three years. Children progress from water adjustment activities through basic water skills. Program instruction is directed toward helping parents work with their children. One adult must accompany each child. Classes are 30 minutes.
Hours: Tues + Thursday: 6-6:30
Preschool Lessons
Ages: 3-5 years
This class introduces children to their first experience swimming without a parent. It is a great way for kids to learn how to be independent and have fun in the pool. A trained swim instructor teaches this class using the YMCA core values. Children learn at their own pace moving through our four skill levels. Preschool swim levels are Pike, Eel, Ray, and Starfish. Classes are 30 minutes.

Youth Lessons
Ages: 6-12 years
This class consists of six levels, which focus on stroke development, water safety, personal growth, and fun. A trained swim instructor works with children at their own pace using the YMCA core values, building self-esteem as well as self confidence through swimming. Youth swim levels are Polliwog, Guppy, Minnow, Fish, Flying Fish and Shark. Classes are 45 minutes.

Adult Lessons
Ages: 13 +
Classes are small and informal which allows students to receive individual instruction and extra practice time. This class focuses on water adjustment, water safety, and proper stroke mechanics.Classes are 45 minutes.
Mon/Wed: 10-10:45 am (beginner)
Mon/Wed: 11-11:45 am (intermediate)
Sun: 1:15-2 pm (beginner)
Cost: Once a week: $20 per month for members/$40 per month for potential members
Twice a week $40 per month for members/$80 per month for potential members
Monday through Thursday classes: $20 a week for members/$40 a week for potential members

Water Fitness Class Description
Shallow Water Classes
J.O.Y.
Lots of fun and exercises that can be done at your level of fitness. This shallow water workout will provide full body muscle strength training, balance, coordination and cardiovascular exercise that will keep you loose and limber the rest of the day. Low-moderate impact/low-moderate intensity
Shallow Water
A great combination of arms, legs and core strength training, stretching and toning. Don’t forget to add in the cardio work and you are set for a good workout that should wear you out! If you are looking for a little more out of your workout, this will be a good class for you. Moderate-high impact/ moderate-high intensity
20/20/20
A water fitness class that will keep you moving from shallow, to deep, to shallow water. 20 minutes shallow cardio, 20 minutes deep water jogging, and then back to shallow water for 20 minutes upper body work! Guaranteed to keep the blood pumping! High impact/high intensity
Cardio Blast
This workout is a great way to gain muscle strength, burn calories and increase your cardiovascular fitness. It is ideal for those wanting a vigorous high intensity workout. High impact/high intensity
Recovery I **Limited to 10 members**
A low intensity shallow water workout using gentle stretches and moderate movements. This class will allow each participant to strengthen muscles, increase endurance and improve balance and joint flexibility. Beginners will start in Recovery I and work towards graduating to Recovery II. Low impact/low intensity
Recovery II
Graduates from Recovery I will continue to strengthen muscles and work more on endurance with 15min. longer on class time. Low impact/low intensity
Deep Water Classes
Deep Combo
A fun, deep-water class that will get your heart pumping and your muscles strengthened. The class takes place in deep water and uses flotation belts, barbells and noodles to enhance your workout. We begin with a short warm up, then transition into a cardiovascular workout. This is followed by strength and flexibility for you core muscles, arms, legs shoulders and back. We finish up with a stretching warm down. Moderate-high intensity
Deep Water Interval
Ready for a challenging work-out? This deep water class is designed to burn calories and improves your cardiovascular endurance. After warming up, you will be led in fun (big muscles) aerobic exercise for 3 or more minutes, interspersed with toning and strength work for isolated muscle groups using barbells or noodles. The overall effect is an adjustable high intensity workout certain to give you great results! Moderate-high intensity
OnDemand Semi-Private Swim Lessons
Looking for personal instruction and/or a flexible swim lesson schedule? OnDemand semi-private lessons will help! Swimmers learn the basics of swimming in a small group of four or more participants of similar age and ability. Each class is 45 minutes and sessions are 7 lessons.

TYDE is a USA Swimming and YMCA swim team offering a full range of competitive programming for all ages.
