Davie County Reads Literacy Initiative

Davie County Reads Literacy Initiative is a program for adults who would like to become fluent speakers of English (English as a Second Language) or for those who wish to enhance their reading skills (Adult Literacy).  This is a free program supported by the YMCA, United Way and Davie Community Foundation.

Classes take place at one of our three main locations: The Davie Family YMCA, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, or the Davie Public Library. Adult literacy classes are one-to-one at day/time to be arranged between student and program coordinator upon tutor availability. Adult ESL classes are set up by ability groups of about 4 -8 participants for one hour a week. Day and time of ESL classes are set up according to availability of tutors and students. Enrolled participants also have access to a language computer lab available to them at the YMCA seven days a week for extra independent practice.
