Nick Lawrence,

Healthy Kids Day

Join us for our annual Healthy Kids Day celebration. With summer just around the corner, Healthy Kids Day is a great time for families to begin thinking early about what their kids need to stay physically and intellectually active this summer. You can find great information about ways to help kids and families find ways to stay healthy all year long.

Saturday, April 26

Statesville Family YMCA

We’ll have face painting, crafts, clowns, balloon animals, a Kids Zumba Class, Bounce House/Slide, healthy Snacks and drinks, the Statesville Fire Dept will open up their truck with demos, the Statesville Police Department will be present to talk about safety, the Chick-Fil-a Cow will be here from 10-11am passing out coupons, and the Arby’s Oven Mitten, Wendy’s and Sweet Frog mascots will be passing out coupons as well.

We’ll also have a special guest, CJ Buford. CJ is now 9 years old but at the age of 6, like many little boys, he loved to ride his bike. After hearing a song on the radio and reading Colossians 3:23 from his Bible, he was inspired to ride his bike for a REASON. In the past two years CJ has ridden over 1000 miles to raise over $17,000 for charities to help sick children all over the world.

CJ will be riding his bike cross country in September from California to Florida to raise money for The National Children’s Cancer Society. His message and challenge to everyone is to do what you love and do it for a reason… to be intentional in what you do, thus the reason for his bike riding. He shares his adventures on his website:
