Q: What is new at the Fulton Family YMCA?
A: The Fulton Family YMCA has been operating as a youth recreation program center, housing our vital afterschool programs, summer camps, youth sports, and our TYDE swim team since 2020. Thanks to community support and increased partnership opportunities - including the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools system’s alternative out-of-school suspension program, Restore, Reset, Restart (R3) - the branch will be adding morning membership hours. We will measure participation to see if expanded hours are warranted.

Q: Are we open temporarily? How long will we be open?
A: This is the beginning of our reopening plan. Our plan is to grow in hours of operation as warranted.

Q: What are the branch hours?
A: The branch will be open Monday-Friday, 7:00am-1:00pm. Because of the New Year's Day holiday, our hours will be 8:00am-1:00pm on January 1.

Q: Why is the branch open during different hours than before?
A: We want to establish what the interest will be in the branch. The busiest usage times were the morning hours prior to the shutdown. Previously, much of branch usage came from businesses that are no longer in the area or are still remote. We will constantly monitor usage at the branch and determine if the hours need to be updated.

Q: What are the pool hours?
A: The pool will operate during the same hours as the branch, but will close 15 minutes before the branch closes for cleaning.

Q: Can I use the whirlpool, steam room or sauna on the pool deck?
A: The steam room and sauna will be in operation. The whirlpool will remain closed.

Q: Will there be group exercise classes?
A: Group exercise classes like yoga, cycle, and water fitness, will be offered five days a week beginning in February based on staffing. We will monitor facility usage, membership numbers, and staffing to determine if additional group exercise classes can be added.

Q: What is the group exercise schedule?
A: It is our plan to hold two classes a day, a group exercise and a water fitness class. The group exercise schedule will be determined once staff availability is finalized.

Q: Will locker rooms be available?
A: Yes, members will have access to the locker rooms.

Q: Will the gym and indoor track be available?
A: Yes, the gym and indoor track will be available for use.

Q: If I want to join Fulton or make a change to my existing membership, can I do that at Fulton?
A: We will be able to make changes to your membership at the branch during operating hours. The Member Services Center can also assist you with membership and program questions. To reach member services, call 336 777 8055 option 8, Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm.

Q: Can I bring a guest with me?
A: Yes, guests are welcome! For more information on our guest policy or to fill out the guest paperwork please click here.

Q: Will I be able to use my nationwide Y membership here?
A: Yes, nationwide memberships will be accepted at this facility.

Q: I put my membership on hold during the temporary closure. How can I reactivate it, or will it do so automatically?
A: Memberships that were put on hold will not resume automatically, you will need to contact member services at 336 777 8055 option 8, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm or come into the facility.

Q: Will there be a Child Watch/Kids Zone?
A: We are not able to offer Child Watch/Kids Zone at this time. We will monitor usage and staffing to determine if it can be added in the future.

Q: Will the functional training center be available?
A: No, the left wing of the branch is now being utilized by a partnership with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools system and their R3 program.
