View from the Top
Miriam joined the Yadkin Family YMCA a year ago in order to stay active and get in better shape. When she had the chance to visit her son in East Africa this summer, she knew she was up for the adventure.
During the trip, the mother and son set out on a hike to enjoy the scenic, once-in-a-lifetime view of the ocean from an overlook on top of cliffs in the area. Miriam, age 77, was able to hike two and a half miles uphill over rough terrain to experience the view from the top. She loved every minute! Not only was the view glorious, she enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment as much as the scenery.
When she returned to the Y, she was bursting with excitement. She shared that she would have never even attempted the hike if she hadn’t been visiting the Y and getting in shape for the last year.
