Bell, Davis & Pitt Named Presenting Sponsor of 28th Annual YMCA Mistletoe Run
Local Law Firm Invests in Community Event to Stop Childhood Obesity
The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina announced today that local law firm Bell, Davis & Pitt, P.A., is the presenting sponsor of the 28th Annual YMCA Mistletoe Half Marathon, 5K and Fun Run, to be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011.
The race, held at William G. White, Jr. Family YMCA near downtown Winston-Salem, is a longstanding community event popular among families, first-time runners and walkers, and serious athletes alike. The multi-year sponsorship will continue to have an impact on the lives of children and families in the greater Winston-Salem area for years to come. This year, in response to the growing childhood obesity rates in our region, proceeds from the race will fund programs that address this mounting trend.

A staggering 41% of children in Forsyth County are overweight or obese, more than twice the national average. Participants will run and walk to help fund proven childhood obesity prevention programs, such as the YMCA’s P.A.C.E.S. (Program for Active Children Eating Smarter), that helps kids and families make healthier lifestyle choices. P.A.C.E.S. has reached more than 3,000 children in the community through both prevention and intervention programs to date.
